Saturday on KIX 102 FM, Casey Kasem hosts an “American Top 40” show that originally aired during this week in 1982. We were disc-overing the new music format called Compact Disc and buying the latest releases by Human League, The Go-Go’s, 38 Special, and Crosby, Stills, and Nash. We’ll hear the strange entry of the week at #31: “Hooked On Swing,” which is a dance medley of ‘30s and ‘40s songs. And John Cougar’s “Hurts So Good” is up against Toto’s “Rosanna” and Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” for #1. Listen to classic “American Top 40” on KIX 102 FM this Saturday from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m., with an encore presentation from 8 p.m. – midnight.
Sunday on “American Top 40,” hear the biggest songs from this week in 1974. Dave Loggins, who we just lost, has a Top 10 hit with “Please Come To Boston.” Elsewhere, it’s a nice mixed bag of tunes that range from the wild (“Radar Love” by Golden Earring) to the wacky (“Wildwood Weed” from Jim Stafford). And… battling for the Top Spot, it’s John Denver’s “Annie’s Song” vs. Elton John’s “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.” Enjoy The Countdown, Casey’s stories, and the Long Distance Dedications every Sunday from 9 a.m. – noon, only on KIX 102 FM.
