Saturday on AT40 hear the big songs this week 1987 with the King of The Countdown: Casey Kasem!  It was the first time we heard Club Nouveau’s remake of “Lean On Me”…“Moonlighting” was on TV and its star Bruce Willis was in the Top Ten with “Respect Yourself”…Big Hair Rock scores with “The Final Countdown” by Europe, and “Living On A Prayer” by Bon Jovi…crank up the volume for The Beastie Boys “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right To Party”…and Linda Ronstadt with James Ingram (“Somewhere Out There”) vies with Huey Lewis and The News (“Jacob’s Ladder”) for #1!  It’s Back to The 80s every Saturday 6-10 am, with an encore presentation 8-midnight on KIX.

Sunday morning on AT40,  Casey Kasem plays back the hits this week 1973, with a fun mixed bag!  You’ve hit the big time when you make “The Cover of The Rolling Stone”, according to Dr. Hook…You’ll hear some movie music: The Theme From “2001” and “Dueling Banjos” from ‘Deliverance’…The Four Tops, O’Jays, and The Spinners add some soul…A couple of NC natives are on the charts: Chapel Hill’s Loudon Wainwright III with “Dead Skunk”, and Asheville’s … Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly With His Song” hoping to make it four weeks with the top song!  Casey’s stories, and the Long Distance dedications…every Sunday 9-noon, only on KIX.
