1/2 cup heavy cream (room temperature if possible)

1/4 teaspoon salt (optional, for salted caramel)
Instructions
1. Melt the sugar2. Add the butterOnce the sugar is fully melted, carefully add the butter. The mixture will bubble vigorously. Stir until the butter is completely melted and combined.
3. Stir in the creamSlowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring. The caramel will bubble up again—this is normal. Keep stirring until smooth.
4. Simmer brieflyLet the sauce simmer for about 1 minute to thicken slightly.
5. FinishRemove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt (if using).
6. Cool and serveAllow the caramel to cool for a few minutes before using. It will thicken as it cools. Then, enjoy!
